NX-P1302AUK Key Features

Coverage & Range

225,000 sq ft indoor / 15-floor coverage

2-watt UHF output delivers reliable unit-to-unit coverage across large single-facility operations: warehouses, distribution centers, multi-story office buildings, and sprawling retail footprints.

2-mile outdoor range

UHF 451–470 MHz performs well outdoors across open yards, loading docks, event grounds, and construction sites where line-of-sight is available.

UHF band (451–470 MHz)

UHF penetrates concrete walls, steel shelving, and floor systems more effectively than VHF—the correct choice for most business indoor environments.

Channel Organization

64 channels across 4 zones

16 channels per zone let you segment communication by team, department, or function—warehouse floor on Zone 1, supervisors on Zone 2, security on Zone 3—without cross-talk or confusion.

Second PTT button

A dedicated second push-to-talk lets a supervisor transmit directly to a different team channel without switching zones, keeping coordination fast during high-activity periods.

QT / DQT privacy signaling

45 QT tones and 174 DQT codes prevent your team from hearing transmissions from other businesses operating on the same UHF frequencies nearby.

Battery & Power

12-hour battery life

The KNB-45L 2,000 mAh lithium-ion battery is rated for a full shift at the standard 5/5/90 duty cycle. The KNB-45LK extended battery provides additional runtime for around-the-clock or high-transmit operations.

Wireless fleet cloning

Copy programmed settings wirelessly from one radio to another—no PC required for basic cloning. Programming a 20-radio fleet takes minutes instead of hours when paired with a multi-unit charger.

Durability

IP54/55 weather resistance

Protected against dust ingress and water splashed from any direction. Handles spills, rain, and daily handling abuse in warehouse, outdoor venue, and light industrial environments.

MIL-STD-810 C/D/E/F/G certified

Passes military testing for shock, vibration, humidity, driven rain, and temperature extremes from −22°F to +140°F. Built to absorb the day-to-day abuse of real job sites.

Audio & Communication

BTL audio amplifier

Bridge-Tied Load amplifier delivers clear, loud 1-watt audio output through the internal speaker—audible in high-ambient-noise environments like loading docks, production floors, and outdoor venues.

16-code voice inversion scrambler

Scrambles voice transmissions so casual listeners and consumer scanners cannot decode your team’s conversations. Note: scrambler is not military-grade encryption; it is a deterrent against casual interception.

VOX hands-free operation

Voice-activated transmission mode lets staff communicate without pressing PTT—useful for warehouse pickers, event staff, and anyone whose hands are consistently occupied. Requires a compatible headset.

Voice announcement system

The radio announces zone and channel changes, battery warnings, and function status changes audibly—reducing errors during fast-paced operations without requiring staff to look at the radio.

Compatible Accessories

The NX-P1302AUK uses the same dual-pin locking connector as the full NX-P1000 series. All accessories below are verified compatible.

Who Is This Radio For?

1. Warehouse, Distribution, and Light Industrial Operations

The NX-P1302AUK was designed for exactly this environment. A 225,000 sq ft indoor range covers even large single-building distribution centers, and the 64-channel structure lets operations segment picking teams, forklift operators, receiving docks, and supervisors on separate channels without overlap. The IP54/55 rating and MIL-STD-810 certification mean the radio survives drops, dust, and the occasional forklift near-miss. VOX support with a compatible headset keeps hands free for scanning, loading, and equipment operation.

See our shop by industry guide for more warehouse communication options.

2. Schools, Universities, and Large Campuses

Campus security, facilities management, and administrative teams spread across multiple buildings need reliable multi-zone communication with clear channel segmentation. The 4-zone / 64-channel structure allows a large institution to run security on one zone, maintenance on another, and administrative coordination on a third—all from the same radio platform. The self-programming feature and wireless cloning reduce IT and facilities burden when onboarding new staff radios. The 2-mile outdoor range covers inter-building coordination across most campus footprints.

See our school communication radio guide.

3. Event Production and Venue Operations

Large venues, live events, and production crews need a radio that survives a weekend of weather, concrete floors, and gear chaos. The NX-P1302AUK’s rugged build handles outdoor event conditions, while 64 channels allow stage management, security, catering, and AV teams to operate on separate channels from a single radio model. The Second PTT button lets a production manager push an all-hands instruction without changing zones. Battery life rated at 12 hours covers a full event day without a mid-show swap.

4. Operations Scaling Toward Digital Communication

Organizations currently running analog UHF infrastructure but planning to transition to digital in the next 1–3 years will find the NX-P1302AUK’s NXDN upgrade path valuable. The radio ships as analog, interoperates with existing Kenwood UHF analog fleets including the NX-P1300AU, and can be converted to digital via license key when the operation is ready—without replacing hardware. This makes it a durable capital investment for facilities planning a phased digital rollout.

NX-P1302AUK vs. NX-P1300AU

The NX-P1300AU is the 5-watt analog-only sibling in the same NX-P1000 family. If your facility is large enough that maximum RF power matters—multi-building campuses, very large warehouses with heavy structural shielding—the NX-P1300AU’s 5-watt output will outperform the NX-P1302AUK’s 2-watt output at range extremes. If your footprint is well within 225,000 sq ft and you want the digital upgrade option, the NX-P1302AUK is the better long-term investment.

NX-P1302AUK vs. NX-P1300NU

The NX-P1300NU ships with NXDN digital and analog modes active simultaneously (Mixed mode), making it the right choice for organizations that need digital functionality today—cleaner audio at range, improved channel efficiency, digital group calling. The NX-P1302AUK is the lower-cost entry point for operations that are analog today and may want digital later.

NX-P1302AUK vs. Motorola CLS1410

The Motorola CLS1410 is a 1-watt, 4-channel business radio designed for small commercial teams in retail and hospitality. It is easier to set up and less expensive, but tops out at 4 channels with no digital upgrade path. The NX-P1302AUK is the correct choice for any operation with more than one working group, a larger facility, or longer-term infrastructure planning.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the NX-P1302AUK and the NX-P1302AU?

The “K” suffix in NX-P1302AUK designates the version sold through Kenwood’s authorized dealer channel in the United States. The core radio hardware, specifications, and user manual are identical to the NX-P1302AU. Both carry the same 2-year manufacturer warranty and are supported by the same accessory ecosystem.

Can the NX-P1302AUK communicate with Kenwood radios we already own?

Yes, in most cases. In analog mode, the NX-P1302AUK will interoperate with any UHF analog radio programmed to the same frequency and QT/DQT privacy code, including:

  • Kenwood NX-P1300AU (analog mode)
  • Kenwood NX-P1300NU (analog zones)
  • Kenwood TK-3402U
  • Kenwood NX-340 (analog mode)

If the other radios in your fleet use different frequencies, brands, or digital protocols (DMR, P25, etc.), they will not communicate directly with the NX-P1302AUK. If you are unsure whether your existing radios are compatible, contact us with the model numbers and we will verify before you order.

How do I program the NX-P1302AUK?

The NX-P1302AUK supports three programming methods:

1. Self-programming (no PC required): The radio has a built-in self-programming mode accessible by holding Side 1 + PTT while powering on. From this mode you can set frequencies, QT/DQT codes, zone/channel assignments, TX power, and button functions directly from the radio. This is adequate for basic single-site setups. The full self-programming flow is documented in the Kenwood NX-P1000 Series User Manual (PDF).

2. PC programming: Kenwood’s KPG-D1 software (Windows) combined with a programming cable allows full parameter control, including advanced features not accessible via self-programming. Required for organizations managing large fleets with customized channel plans.

3. Wireless cloning: Once a master radio is programmed, settings can be cloned wirelessly to additional radios—the fastest method for deploying a fleet of identically configured units.

Tech Wholesale also offers custom programming service at the time of purchase for an additional fee.

What is the actual battery life, and is there an extended option?

Kenwood rates the included KNB-45L 2,000 mAh lithium-ion battery at up to 12 hours using the standard 5/5/90 duty cycle (5% transmit, 5% receive, 90% standby). Real-world life will be shorter in high-transmit environments—plan accordingly for operations with frequent, extended transmissions.

The KNB-45LK extended battery is available separately and provides additional runtime. For multi-shift operations, a KMB-28AK 6-unit charging station allows full-fleet charging overnight so every shift starts with a charged radio.

Is the NX-P1302AUK waterproof?

The NX-P1302AUK is rated IP54/55: protected against dust ingress and water splashed or projected from any direction. It handles rain, spills, and wet-hand handling without issue.

It is not submersible and is not rated for immersion. If the radio is submerged, power it off immediately and allow it to dry fully before use. The waterproof rating applies only when the speaker/microphone jack cap is installed; connecting an accessory removes the waterproof seal at that point.

The NX-P1302AUK is not rated for intrinsically safe (IS) or hazardous-location use. For those environments, see our Kenwood intrinsically safe radios.

How many radios can operate on the same system?

There is no hard limit on the number of radios sharing a channel and frequency. In practice, channel capacity is limited by the natural constraint of half-duplex radio communication—only one radio can transmit at a time on a given channel. For very large teams (50+ users), organizing staff across multiple channels and zones using the 64-channel structure is the practical approach to maintaining workable communication.

Does the NX-P1302AUK work with a repeater?

Yes. The NX-P1302AUK supports repeater operation, which extends coverage beyond the direct radio-to-radio range. This is relevant for operations spread across multiple buildings, large campuses, or sites with significant structural RF shielding. The radio also includes an RX/TX Frequency Scan function designed for repeater environments.

See our repeater options for compatible UHF infrastructure, or contact our team for a site-specific coverage recommendation.

Do you offer quotes?

Yes. Volume quotes are available. Request a quote with your required quantity. We have been an authorized Kenwood dealer since 1997 and provide lifetime support on all radios sold.
