  1. Turn the radio off
  2. Press the 'MON' and large 'Push-to-Talk' button at the same time
  3. Turn on the radio while holding down the 'MON' and 'PTT' buttons
  4. Hold these buttons until the tone is heard and 'PROG' appears on the display

How to change the frequencies on the Motorola CLS radio

  1. Enter programming mode
  2. By using the '+' and '-' buttons, select the channel where you would like to change the frequency
  3. Once the channel is selected, press 'MENU' until 'FREQ' is displayed and the channel frequency number starts to blink
  4. Use the '+' and '-' buttons to change the frequency number to your preferred choice
  5. Press the 'PTT' button to confirm and exit or press 'MENU' to continue programming

How to activate vibracall or update the call tone on a Motorola CLS radio

  1. Enter 'Programming Mode'
  2. Press the 'MENU' button until a blinking number appears with 'CA' displayed
  3. Use the '+' and '-' buttons to select the call tone (3 tones available)
    1. The call tones can be deactivated by selected '0'
    2. VibraCall is activated by selecting call tone 4
  4. Press the 'PTT' button to confirm and exit or press 'MENU' to continue programming

How to edit the Scan List on a Motorola CLS radio

  1. Enter 'Programming Mode'
  2. Press the 'MENU' button until a 'Z' with an arrow displays
  3. The blinking number that appears is the channel number selected. The 'Y' or 'N' displaying determines if the channel is scanned. 'Y' = YES, 'N' = NO.
  4. Press the '+' or '-' button to move between channels and use the 'MON' button to choose 'Y' or 'N'
  5. Press the 'PTT' button to confirm and exit or press 'MENU' to continue programming

How to adjust the Microphone Gain on a Motorola CLS radio

  1. Enter 'Programming Mode'
  2. Press the 'MENU' button until a number appears with the letter 'G' and a face is displayed to the right
  3. Press the '+' or '-' button to select the gain level (1-3). 
    1. '1' is the least sensitive (used for loud environments)
    2. '3' is the most sensitive (used for quite environments)
    3. '2' is the default level
