A Brief Introduction to Radio Programming
Programming allows you to adjust your radio channel settings to eliminate unwanted interference. With programming, you can accomplish the following on your radios:
- Update channel frequencies and privacy codes
- Select a specific call tone or activate vibrate alert (only available on CLS1410)
- Choose which channels are scanned during scan mode
- Adjust microphone gain
How to enter programming mode on the Motorola CLS radio
- Turn the radio off
- Press the 'MON' and large 'Push-to-Talk' button at the same time
- Turn on the radio while holding down the 'MON' and 'PTT' buttons
- Hold these buttons until the tone is heard and 'PROG' appears on the display
How to change the frequencies on the Motorola CLS radio
- Enter programming mode
- By using the '+' and '-' buttons, select the channel where you would like to change the frequency
- Once the channel is selected, press 'MENU' until 'FREQ' is displayed and the channel frequency number starts to blink
- Use the '+' and '-' buttons to change the frequency number to your preferred choice
- Press the 'PTT' button to confirm and exit or press 'MENU' to continue programming
How to change the privacy code on the Motorola CLS radio
- Enter 'Programming Mode'
- By using the '+' and '-' buttons, select the channel where you would like to change the privacy code
- Once the channel is selected, press 'MENU' until 'CODE' is displayed and the channel frequency number starts to blink
- Use the '+' and '-' buttons to change the privacy code number to your preferred choice
- Press the 'PTT' button to confirm and exit or press 'MENU' to continue programming
