Who Is This For?

Field Service Teams and Mobile Workforces

Plumbers, electricians, cable installers, landscapers, and other service businesses that dispatch crews across a metro area or region will find the TLK110 eliminates the dead zones and range limits of traditional UHF/VHF radios.

A dispatcher at the office can communicate directly with a technician across town the same way they'd reach someone in the next room.

See our pages on two-way radios for plumbers, two-way radios for electricians, and construction two-way radios for industry-specific context.

Transportation, Logistics, and Fleet Operations

Delivery fleets, trucking companies, and any business tracking vehicles across a wide geographic area benefit directly from the TLK110's GPS location reporting and LTE coverage.

The WAVE PTX portal gives fleet managers a real-time view of where every radio — and the person carrying it — is located. The vehicle-mounted TLK150 is worth considering as a complement for drivers who need a hands-free in-cab solution.

Organizations with Lone Worker or High-Risk Safety Requirements

Security firms, utility workers, healthcare transport, industrial facilities, and military and tactical operations that need to account for isolated workers will get direct value from the TLK110's SafeGuard feature set: Lone Worker monitoring, Fall Alert, and a dedicated emergency button.

These features go beyond what standard two-way radios offer and are configurable per user through the WAVE PTX portal.

Multi-Site Businesses Needing Centralized Communication

Retail chains, hotel groups, event management companies, and any operation with staff spread across multiple locations can use the TLK110 to create a single unified communication network.

With support for up to 96 channels and 1,000 contacts, the WAVE PTX system scales to accommodate large or complex org structures without requiring repeater infrastructure.

Key Features

Nationwide Push-to-Talk Over LTE

The TLK110 connects through the Motorola WAVE PTX network using 4G LTE and Wi-Fi rather than dedicated radio frequencies. This means range is determined by cellular network coverage, not transmitter power or terrain.

There are no dead zones caused by buildings or topography the way there are with conventional UHF or VHF radios. Coverage falls back to Wi-Fi automatically in areas where cellular signal is limited, such as large indoor facilities or basements.

AI-Based Noise Suppression

The TLK110 uses active AI-powered noise suppression that filters ambient background noise in real time while preserving voice clarity. There are four suppression levels; Level 2 is the default.

Levels can be adjusted remotely via the WAVE PTX portal to match individual work environments. The wideband speaker ensures received audio is intelligible on the other end even in loud conditions.

Voice-Activated Hands-Free PTT (VOX)

VOX on the TLK110 is triggered by voice only, not by ambient noise, which makes it practical in loud job site environments.

Note that VOX is only compatible with VOX-enabled wired earphones — it does not work with Bluetooth accessories or the internal microphone.

Remote Device Management via WAVE PTX Portal

The WAVE PTX administration portal allows managers to remotely configure talkgroups, program button shortcuts, push software updates, set noise suppression levels, and configure safety profiles on a per-user basis — without physically collecting devices.

This significantly reduces the operational overhead of managing a large radio fleet.

AES-256 Encrypted Communications

All push-to-talk transmissions on the TLK110 are encrypted using AES-256, a government-grade encryption standard.

This matters for industries handling sensitive information, security operations, or any organization that cannot allow communications to be intercepted.

Worker Safety Features

The following safety features are available through the WAVE PTX SafeGuard subscription ($30/month) and can be configured on a per-user basis through the WAVE PTX portal.

Emergency Button

The TLK110 has a dedicated physical emergency button. Pressing and holding it initiates an emergency alert to the designated contact or group. A 3-second countdown window allows accidental activations to be cancelled before the alert is sent.

Lone Worker Monitoring

When enabled, Lone Worker starts a timer that resets whenever the user presses a button or transmits.

If the timer runs out with no activity, the radio emits a warning tone and begins a reminder countdown.

If the user does not respond to that second timer, the device automatically places an emergency call.

Response time intervals, reminder durations, and emergency contacts are all fully configurable through the portal.

Full details are available in the Lone Worker Fact Sheet (PDF).

Fall Alert (Man Down)

The built-in accelerometer monitors device angle and movement. If the TLK110 is held at an abnormal angle or detects that movement has stopped for longer than the configured threshold, it plays a pre-warning tone prompting the user to reposition the device.

If there is no response, it automatically places an emergency call. Sensitivity, alarm duration, and emergency contacts are configurable.

Full details are in the Fall Alert Fact Sheet (PDF).

GPS Location Tracking

Real-time GPS data is surfaced through the WAVE PTX portal, giving supervisors a live view of where every radio user is. Location-based talkgroups can be created so that nearby users are automatically grouped together. GPS tracking also supports fleet management and workflow integrations.

How Does It Compare to Similar Products?

Motorola TLK110 vs. Motorola TLK100

The TLK100 is the predecessor to the TLK110 and runs on the same WAVE PTX network.

The TLK110 adds meaningful upgrades over the TLK100: AI-based noise suppression, the Fall Alert / Man Down safety feature, and enhanced audio performance via a wideband speaker.

The TLK100 remains available for buyers who do not require the advanced safety features or who are upgrading an existing TLK100 fleet incrementally.

Both operate on 4G LTE and Wi-Fi and support the same WAVE PTX subscription structure.

Motorola TLK110 vs. Motorola TLK150

The TLK150 is a vehicle-mounted version of the WAVE PTX platform, designed for in-cab use with hands-free accessories and a fixed installation.

It is not portable in the way the TLK110 is.

The TLK150 is the right choice for drivers who need a dedicated in-vehicle communication device; the TLK110 is better suited for workers who are on foot or moving between vehicles and job sites.

Both share the same WAVE PTX network and can communicate with each other on the same talkgroups.

Motorola TLK110 vs. Motorola TLK25

The TLK25 is a wearable WAVE PTX device designed for minimal footprint use cases.

It has a smaller form factor than the TLK110 but trades off some of the TLK110's feature set, including the dedicated display, the full safety suite, and the larger battery.

The TLK110 is the better choice for users who need longer battery life, more safety features, or a more traditional radio form factor.

Motorola TLK110 vs. Traditional UHF/VHF Two-Way Radios

Conventional business radios like the Motorola CLS series or DTR series operate on dedicated radio frequencies and do not require a subscription or cellular infrastructure.

They are better suited for single-site operations where the entire team stays within a defined area — a hotel, warehouse, or retail store, for example.

The TLK110 has a higher ongoing cost (monthly subscription) but eliminates range limits entirely and adds GPS, remote management, and advanced safety features that traditional radios cannot provide.

For operations where range beyond a single building or campus matters, the TLK110 is the appropriate platform.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the TLK110 work without a cellular signal?

The TLK110 automatically falls back to Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz or 5 GHz) when cellular coverage is not available.

However, it does require either a cellular or Wi-Fi data connection to operate — it cannot function as a standalone radio without network access. In areas with neither, the device will not transmit.

How far does the Motorola TLK110 reach?

The TLK110 has no fixed range limit. It operates over Motorola's WAVE PTX network via 4G LTE, which means it can reach any other WAVE PTX user on the same talkgroup anywhere in the country where there is cellular or Wi-Fi coverage.

Range is determined by your carrier's network, not by radio frequency propagation or terrain.

How long does the battery last and how is it charged?

The 2,500 mAh Li-Ion battery provides up to 18 hours of use. It charges via USB-C and should be fully charged over 4–5 hours before first use.

Battery status is shown on-screen and via LED indicator: solid green (80–100%), solid red (medium), flashing red (under 5%).

Motorola also offers a 6-unit multi-charging tray for fleet charging. Replacement batteries are available as the PMNN4578.

What temperature range does the TLK110 handle?

The radio operates in temperatures from -20°C to 60°C when used without the battery. With the battery installed, the operating range is -10°C to 60°C.

This covers most outdoor work environments including cold-weather field operations and high-heat industrial settings.

How does the TLK110 handle background noise?

The TLK110 uses active AI-based noise suppression with four configurable levels. The microphone isolates speech while filtering ambient environmental noise in real time. Level 2 is the default; levels can be adjusted through the WAVE PTX portal.

The wideband speaker also improves the intelligibility of received audio on the listener's end.

Can the TLK110 communicate with other radio systems, like MOTOTRBO?

Yes. Through the WAVE PTX platform, the TLK110 can interoperate with Motorola MOTOTRBO digital radio systems.

This is particularly useful for organizations that are already running a MOTOTRBO infrastructure and want to extend coverage to remote or mobile workers without replacing their existing system entirely.

How many radios can I manage, and how is management done?

There is no published hard cap on the number of TLK110 devices per account. Management is handled through the WAVE PTX web portal, which allows remote configuration of talkgroups, channel assignments, noise suppression levels, safety feature parameters, and software updates — without physically retrieving any device. Each radio supports up to 96 channels and 1,000 contacts.

What is the warranty on the TLK110?

The TLK110 comes with a 1-year limited warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship under normal use conditions. Batteries and chargers are also covered for 12 months, with the battery warranty guaranteeing at least 80% of rated capacity throughout the warranty period.

The warranty does not cover physical damage from misuse, unauthorized modifications, or cosmetic wear.

Motorola Solutions field testing rates the device for up to 5 years of operational service life.

What accessories are compatible with the TLK110?

Motorola offers a full line of TLK110-compatible accessories including surveillance earpieces, D-style headsets, a Bluetooth earpiece with PTT, a rechargeable remote speaker microphone, swivel belt clips, and multi-unit charging trays.

The radio also supports commercially available Bluetooth accessories (headsets, scanners, sensors, PTT-only devices).

See the full TLK110 accessories page for current availability and pricing.

Can the TLK110 be used for one-to-one private calls as well as group calls?

Yes. The WAVE PTX platform supports both group PTT calls (talkgroups) and individual private calls between users. Groups can be preset by administrators or selected on the device. The 1,000-contact capacity gives fleet managers substantial flexibility in how they structure their communication hierarchy.
