Who Is This Radio For?
Hospitality and Hotel Operations
Hotel properties benefit from the EVX-S24's small form factor and Whisper Mode. Staff members in guest-facing roles—front desk, housekeeping, valet, concierge—can communicate discreetly without disrupting the guest experience. The radio is slim enough to clip to a uniform pocket or carry in an apron. With 256 channels and 16 talk groups, large properties can segment communications by department without interference between teams.

Schools, Universities, and Campus Security
Administrative staff, security personnel, and facilities teams in educational settings need a radio that's easy to carry throughout a full school day. Emergency Alert and Lone Worker features provide an added layer of safety for staff working in remote areas of a campus. The radio's analog/digital compatibility allows it to integrate with existing equipment without requiring a full fleet replacement.

Aquatics, Marine, and Car Wash Environments
Facilities where radios are routinely exposed to water—aquatic centers, cruise operations, car washes, marinas—require IP67 or higher protection. The EVX-S24 is rated to withstand submersion in one meter of water for 30 minutes and is fully dustproof. The optional Motorola MH-66F4B Waterproof Remote Speaker Mic extends that protection to accessories as well.
Light Industrial, Maintenance, and Facilities Teams
Operations teams working across large buildings or open properties benefit from the EVX-S24's 275,000 sq ft / 25-floor coverage range and MIL-STD-810 durability rating. The Lone Worker Alert automatically monitors inactivity and triggers a check-in request—a critical safety feature for employees working alone in warehouses, mechanical rooms, or after-hours environments. The yellow color option improves visibility on job sites.
Key Features
Digital & analog operation
Analog and digital dual-mode operation
Operates in both analog UHF and digital DMR Tier II modes, allowing a phased upgrade alongside an existing analog fleet — no full simultaneous replacement required.
TDMA doubles channel capacity
In digital mode, Time-Division Multiple-Access technology provides two communication paths on a single channel — without requiring additional frequencies.
AMBE+2 vocoder with noise cancellation
Digital mode delivers clear voice audio with active noise cancellation, reducing interference from equipment, crowds, and environmental noise. Analog mode provides 2W output for legacy compatibility.
Safety & emergency
Lone Worker monitoring
Monitors radio activity at configurable intervals. If a user misses a check-in prompt, the radio automatically sends an alert to a designated contact or group — no subscription required.
Emergency Alert button
Any team member can instantly signal for help with a dedicated emergency button, built directly into the radio's firmware with no additional hardware needed.
Transmit Interrupt (decode)
An operator with encode capabilities can break into an active transmission to deliver a priority message — useful for emergency announcements or urgent operational updates.
Audio & communication
Whisper Mode
Detects low-volume transmissions and automatically amplifies them on the receiving end — enabling quiet communication in theaters, lobbies, retail floors, and library settings.
Coverage & deployment
Site Search for multi-building deployments
Automatically identifies and connects to the strongest available repeater signal, allowing users to move between buildings or sites without manually switching channels.
How Does the Motorola EVX-S24 Compare to Similar Radios?
EVX-S24 vs. Motorola SL300
The Motorola SL300 is a similarly slim, guest-facing radio with a more refined aesthetic and an integrated display, making it a common choice for luxury hospitality. The SL300 operates on UHF frequencies but is limited to 99 channels versus the EVX-S24's 256. The EVX-S24 has a higher IP67 rating compared to the SL300's IP54, making the EVX-S24 the better option for wet or outdoor environments. The SL300 is generally positioned for high-end appearance; the EVX-S24 prioritizes durability and channel capacity.
EVX-S24 vs. Motorola CP200d
The Motorola CP series radios are larger, traditional-form-factor business radios with higher wattage (4W) and longer range potential, particularly in open outdoor environments. They are better suited for construction and public safety applications where size and raw power matter more than portability. The EVX-S24 wins on form factor, water resistance (IP67 vs. IP54 on the CP200d), and digital protocol support. Teams that prioritize discretion or need to carry a radio comfortably for a full shift will generally prefer the EVX-S24.
EVX-S24 vs. Motorola RDX Series
The Motorola RDX series radios are UHF and pre-programmed, making them a simpler entry-level option. However, they are limited in channel capacity, output power, and do not support digital DMR protocol. The EVX-S24 is a business radio with significantly more range, clearer audio, and enterprise-grade features. Organizations with 10 or more users, or those with safety requirements, will typically outgrow RDX-class radios quickly.
EVX-S24 vs. Motorola DLR Series
The Motorola DLR series operates on 900 MHz FHSS frequencies. It is designed for indoor retail and office environments where interference avoidance and license-free operation are priorities. The DLR has excellent in-building performance but no IP rating for water resistance, and it is not suited for outdoor or wet environments. The EVX-S24 is the better choice for organizations needing outdoor range, water protection, or cross-fleet digital compatibility.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will the EVX-S24 work with my existing analog radios?
Yes, provided your existing radios operate on UHF frequencies within the 403–470 MHz range.
The EVX-S24 operates in analog mode at 2W and is compatible with other UHF analog business radios from Motorola, Kenwood, Icom, and other manufacturers using the same frequencies.
In digital mode, it communicates with other DMR Tier II radios. Compatibility with MOTOTRBO radios using standard (not enhanced) encryption is also supported.
If you are unsure about compatibility with your current fleet, contact Tech Wholesale before purchasing.
What is the actual range of the EVX-S24?
Motorola rates the EVX-S24 for up to 275,000 square feet of indoor coverage and approximately 25 floors of vertical coverage.
In open, unobstructed outdoor environments—such as over water or flat rural terrain—range can be considerably greater given the 3W digital output.
Real-world range in urban or indoor environments will be lower due to building materials, interference, and structural obstructions.
For large campuses or multi-building operations, a repeater can significantly extend coverage. Range claims should be treated as maximum figures under optimum conditions, not guaranteed minimums.
Can the EVX-S24 be used in outdoor or marine environments?
Yes. The EVX-S24 carries an IP67 rating, meaning it is fully dustproof and can be submerged in up to one meter of water for up to 30 minutes without damage.
It also meets MIL-STD-810 standards for shock, vibration, humidity, and extreme temperatures. This makes it suitable for use in marine operations, aquatic facilities, car washes, outdoor construction, and similar environments.
For marine use, pair the radio with the waterproof remote speaker mic for full weather protection of the accessory connection as well.
How long does the battery last, and is a larger battery available?
The standard included battery provides up to 12 hours of use in digital mode and approximately 11 hours in analog mode with battery saver enabled.
For operations requiring longer coverage—overnight security shifts, extended events, full-day aquatics operations—the Motorola PMNN4468 Ultra-High Capacity Li-Ion Battery (2300 mAh) is a direct fit and extends runtime meaningfully beyond the standard pack.
